Happy Day, My Friends!
Last month, WellBeing w/Coach Edna published the article "Spirit, Soul & Body Coaching," in which Coach Edna explained her coaching philosophy and the three service paths: Remembrance Path (Spirit), Empower Yourself (Soul), and Health & Lifestyle (Body). Today, we delve into what Coach Edna means by "Soul." Let's embark on this fascinating journey together.
For decades, there has been a renewed focus on the concept of human beings as a multidimensional entities, encompassing both physical (the body) and non-physical aspects (Soul, Spirit, Mind). Various interpretations have emerged, as shown in the examples below:

These illustrations highlight the diverse ways people conceptualize human dimensions. despite these variations, society widely accepts the idea that humans are multidimensional.
Most people can agree we have a body, as evidenced by our five senses. But what about the non-physical aspects? Is it:
Spirit and Mind?
Spirit and Soul?
Soul, Mind, and Heart?
Spirit, Soul, Mind, and Heart?
The answer could be all of the above, depending on one's perspective and understanding. To explore further, let's look at historical interpretations.
Throughout history, civilizations have sought to explain these concepts. Ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Mesoamerican cultures believed in both corporeal and immaterial aspects of humans, with theories ranging from two to more than five dimensions.
Greek thought in the 6th-5th centuries Before the Current Era (BCE) introduced ideas about the soul being separate from the body through Orphism and Pythagoreanism. These traditions described the soul as imprisoned in the body, needing liberation through ritual and contemplation.
The pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus distinguished between the soul (psyche) and the body (soma). Socrates believed in the soul's immortality, and around 375 BCE, Plato systematized these ideas into his "Tripartite Soul" theory, which divides the soul into three parts: the Logos (reason), the thymos (spirit and emotions), and the eros (desires and will).

Chinese civilization also described a dual-soul concept with the "hun" (spiritual/yang soul) and "po" (corporeal/yin soul), as seen in texts like the Zhuangzi from the 4th century BCE. Here, "hun" connects to Spirit and "po" to the body, paralleling the Greek understanding of the soul as having different qualities one connecting to Spirit and another to physical desires.

The Hebrew tradition, dating back to 2000 BCE, also assigns multiple levels to the soul. In addition, they identify the animal/physical soul (nefesh habehamit) and the Godly soul (nefesh haElokit), paralleling the understanding of the soul tending for bodily needs and another to divine connection.
Judeo-Christian beliefs, influenced by Greek philosophy, adopted the tripartite view of "Spirit, Soul, and Body," as found in 1 Thessalonians 5:23: "May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
This journey through history shows that the concept of human non-physical aspects or dimensions has been with us for centuries. One of the most accepted schemes representing human multidimensionality is the human tripartite consisting of Spirit, Soul, and Body, with the soul tripartite consisting of the mind, emotions, and will.

Coach Edna philosophy aligns with this last mentioned scheme which she terms the double tripartite: the Human Tripartite (Spirit, Soul, Body) and the Soul Tripartite (Mind, Emotion, Will).
Now, what is Spirit? Spirit is the Universal fabric of which everything IS and we are part of. Some call it the Etheric field, the Quantum field, or God. It is the one mind where all thoughts originate; it is the unifying force. It is a concept difficult to explain because it has no words; it can only be felt. Everyone is part of the Spirit. Some people are spiritually awake, and others are spiritually asleep. Spiritually asleep people can’t recognize the Spirit within. But people can awaken as they start practicing forgiveness and compassion, coming into a state of hope. This is strengthened with spiritual knowledge and understanding, faith, and love. It culminates in the embracement of unity and oneness.
When one matures in the Spiritual dimension, we understand that we are all ONE, one body, one consciousness; we are part of that encompassing fabric which I call the Omnipresent God. Then, what is the soul?
The soul is the non-physical part that distinguishes us as individuals. It is derived from Spirit. It is an aspect of Spirit, an expression of creation. The soul is part of Spirit but does not contain the totality of Spirit. The soul is non-physical and eternal, just like the Spirit.
In this earthly experience, the soul dwells in the body, and the body serves as an organic instrument for us to have a physical existence. The body is part of mother earth's energy, given to us as an instrument for the soul. When the soul leaves the body, it becomes inanimate. Once the breath of life ends, its purpose ends, and decomposition starts, returning back to the soil where it is recycled by many of mother Earth's creatures. But the soul does not die; it just goes back to the non-physical space where all invisible things exist, like radio waves and Wi-Fi information that you can’t see but know are there.
The body has been designed by Spirit with purpose and magnificence and built out of Gaia’s energy for the Soul’s expansion and expression. Like a car that has different pieces of technology to experience moving from point A to point B, the Body allows the Soul to expand and express as it experiences physical existence on Earth.
Once the Soul is in the body, it has three pieces of technology at its disposal: the Mind (Beliefs), the Heart (Emotions), and the Will (Desire). Following the analogy of cars, the Mind, which is the seat of belief systems, will determine the quality of the experience. It's like traveling from point A to point B either in a Yugo car or an Aston Martin. We are still traveling in a car, still moving the same path (point A to point B), but your belief systems determine the quality of that journey. Are you in a belief system founded in lack? Then you are driving a Yugo car. Are you within a belief system of abundance and prosperity? Then you are in an Aston Martin. So your belief systems will determine the quality of your experience on Earth.

The second piece of technology the Soul has, once it is in the body, is the Will, which is directly correlated with your desires. Following the car analogy, the Will is to the Soul like the type of motor the car has. Does your car have four cylinders or eight cylinders in line? Which one will travel faster from point A to point B? Does your car have a reverberating gas motor or a quiet electric one? Which one will you enjoy the most?
In the analogy of the car, the motor will determine how fast or slow this car will go. Also, will determine how enjoyable the ride will be depending on preferences. In the case of the Soul, our desires and will determine how fast or slow the Soul's expansion will be and how it will express itself through actions and manifestations.
Finally, we have the third piece of technology, which is the Heart. In the car analogy, the Heart is similar to the GPS system, which helps you determine the right path. But it works more like a compass, where the destination is marked by the north arrow. Let’s say the destination (Point B) is miles away to the North, but the road is not straight; there are turns and curves. As we look at the compass at the next intersection, we will try to take the route that points north or closer to north.

The Heart is the seat of our emotions, and our emotions are our internal compass. They let us know if we are walking the path leading to desire destination. Emotions derived from low energies like doubt, anxiety, depression, anger, rage, jealousy, and the like, push us away from the North path. But emotions centered on love, compassion, hope, understanding, peace, collaboration, fairness, unity, and the like, will move us in the right direction toward the desired destination.
So, there you have a quick introduction about the Soul and how it interacts with the experience we, as Soul, have during its brief existence on Earth. WellBeing w/Coach Edna is here to give you tools to have the most incredible experience as you journey in WellBeing and magnificence.
With Unconditional Love,
Coach Edna
