A Perspective on the Universal Law of Polarity

Happy day, my friends!

As I sit here, I find myself pondering: What needs to be expressed?

Need...

As I hear the word NEED in my head, I am reminded that we "need to do nothing." Needs are of the body and not the Spirit. Needs are related to survival, to the act of preserving the body, like the need for water, food, sleep, movement, elimination, and shelter. Everything else is a matter of choice.

It is 6:44 in the morning as I am writing these words and it is my choice to do so. I am currently living in Texas, and that too is a choice. I left my previous job to explore new things, yet another choice. Every single moment is a choice. The question is: Are we aware of this? Are we conscious of the fact that we are constantly making decisions, whether consciously or subconsciously? So, my initial question should be: What I am choosing to express today?

Awareness is essential on the journey to empowerment. The awareness of my thoughts allowed me to catch myself in an old programming. The programming that we NEED to do things, like we are force to, like we do not have a choice. That awareness allowed me to zoom out and observed what was happening. It enabled me to detach from the little self, the ego, and gave permission to my higher self to actively participate in this experience. The knowing that I have choices and my freedom of taking decision is the way I actively participate in my experiences. As I contemplate my limiting ego on one shoulder, and my expansive higher self on the other, I am reminded of the Universal Law of Polarity. This, my friends, is the topic I am choosing for today.

The law of polarity states that everything in life has an opposite, like my little limiting ego and my expansive unlimited higher self. Here on planet Earth, we experience this law in extreme ways: good and evil, hot and cold, fear instead of love.

The importance of the Law of Polarity is that it plays a crucial role in our conscious decision by providing contrast . It is through experiencing shame that we understand it does not feel right, and we have the power to choose respect and understanding for our fellow human beings. Betrayal helps us appreciate loyalty. Sickness reminds us of the value of good health. Isolation teaches us the significance of companionship. Extreme cold makes us appreciate warmth, just as extreme heat makes us yearn for a cool breeze. The contrast offers us appreciation, and that appreciation provides clues to what we desire. If we are aware enough, this appreciation allow us to make the right decision for the path we are committed to take in our journey.

Universal laws are impartial. They apply to everyone and everything in the same way. Their validity is equal for all. Universal laws simply exist, just like gravity (a physical law) exists. Gravity is always present and felt by everyone and everything on the planet. It does not tell us what to do with it, but knowing that gravity is a law gives us useful information as we navigate this existence on Earth, doesn't it? We understand that if we are on higher ground, gravity will pull us down... down the hill, down to our knees... With that knowledge, we make better choices. When learning to ride a bicycle or skates, we protect our knees and head because we know that gravity will pull us down if we lose balance.

The Universal Law of Polarity acts in a similar way upon us. Now that we are aware of its existence, the question is: What do we do with it? How do we choose to use or interpret this law? Our free will comes into play. Polarity is a spectrum with extremes on each end. The law does not dictate that we must be on one side or the other. It simply exists, like gravity does. However, we have the power to choose where we want to be on the spectrum, and that is the beauty of it. We get to decide our position and we can move left or right as we wish.

To illustrate, let's consider the hot and cold spectrum represented by a color stripe. Red represents extremely hot temperatures, while purple represents extreme cold, frigid temperatures. If we find ourselves at the cold-frigid extreme (purple), our bodies will start to cool down and eventually freeze, making us uncomfortable. We may shiver and our teeth might chatter, prompting us to think, "Hmm, I should move towards the hot end of the spectrum." As we move left from purple to blue, green, warm yellow, tropical orange, and so on, we may reach a point where we think, "Ah, this feels too hot. My body is heating up, and I'm sweating. I don't like how it feels. I should move back towards the right." So we continue past orange, feeling better, until we arrive at warm yellow, which feels just perfect. That becomes our desired spot on the spectrum.

So, dear friend, did the spectrum move at any point? No, the spectrum was always there, but we moved through it, back and forth, until we found our sweet spot. And that, my dear friend, is how we can use the Law of Polarity to our advantage. Every experience we have indicates which end of the spectrum we should move toward until we find our sweet spot. It is important to understand that the sweet spot is different for each person we encounter on our path, and we must respect that. I might prefer warm yellow, while my husband prefers cold blue, and that is perfectly fine. The spectrum is there, and we have the power to choose where we want to be on it.

As you already know, I am committed to following the stream of love. I have consciously and voluntarily made this decision. On this path, my goal is to extend only the good, the holy, and the beautiful. I have already decided on which side of the spectrum I want to be. I choose to be on the opposite end of fear, which is love. I choose to be on the opposite side of doubt, which is certainty. I choose to walk the middle path between cold and hot, finding warmth and coolness. I choose to be on the opposite end of oppression, embracing freedom. I choose to be on the opposite end of coercion, seeking inspiration. It is through the gift of free will that I can make these choices. Understanding that polarity exist and that I can choose where to be in the spectrum gives me power.

My dear friends, you have also been given the same gift of free will, and you too have the power to choose. Give yourself permission to move within the spectrum of life and decide where the sweet spot is for you. Find that place where you can feel unlimited, expansive, creative—a powerful force of creation to extend the good, the holy, and the beautiful that resides within you. I can't wait to witness the magnificent ways in which you will express the wholeness of your being.

In the next Empower Yourself post, I will share further insights on how we can harness this polarity as we embark on our journey to empowerment.

Until then!
